City & County Graphics Office

We were contacted by City & County Graphics in Oxford to design and install their new office lighting and power layout after a referral from another one of our happy clients.

The main factors when designing the electrical installation was the amount of computers and related equipment such as printers to be used, and their preference to maintain the industrial feel within the office.

The main problem with computers when considering the design is the high amount of earth leakage they create, which in turn can trip the RCD within a consumer unit if too many are installed on the one RCD. So to counter this we install devices known as RCBO’s, these protect individual circuits and were installed for each bank of desks to ensure compliance with the electrical regulations while removing the risk of “nuisance tripping” from the earth leakage.

For the lighting design we needed a solution to supply a good working light level while keeping the industrial feel to the unit. To do this we designed the layout using catenary wires to hang fancy twin fluorescent light fittings, this way it would create the feel of a “false ceiling” while being able to look past the fittings and seeing the metal work of the industrial unit.

Another service we supplied for City and County Graphics was to install their data cabling and RJ45 outlets at their desks back to a main patch panel for connecting their internet and phone lines.

City and County Graphics have since been in touch with new projects such as installation of 3phase supplies for their large printing machines. They have also relayed positive comments made by their clients when visiting their unit and the practicality of the new office layout.

‘We picked The Oxford Electrical Company to carry out the installation of the lighting and power here at our new office in Kingston Bagpuize.

We wanted to keep the original industrial feeling to the unit. Nick and the team recommended that we didn’t install a false ceiling, and instead hang fluorescent lights to give us the illusion of a ceiling, but still keeping the industrial feel.

The team were very hard working, and very professional whilst they were on site and all of the staff and visitors we have are very impressed with our new offices.

Due to the great job that was made in the office, we used The Oxford Electrical Company to set up the electrical works for the installation of our new printer, and also have another job coming up very soon for another investment City & County Graphics have made. We look forward to working with you all again soon.’
